Last Couple of Days at Darlington

After the two days at Malton is was back to Helen's for a couple of days.

The partial eclipse of the sun had its effect on Darlington. Not really dark but the light was significantly subdued.

Dull during the eclipse

Malton, Pickering and Scarbrough

We have a new ambition - to visit as many Talbot hotels as we can.  This weeks trip was to the Talbot in Malton, Yorkshire. Between York and Scarbrough.

Only a few rooms and a recommended restaurant.

The food was very good. Good flavours and well presented. However for the two evenings one course managed to not quite work. The highlight for me was the slow cooked beef cheek in beer. So tender that it parted with a fork.

The weather was overcast and dull for the two days and landscape photography was uninteresting. We had a drive over to Scarbrough via Pickering for the day.

Just outside Malton was  Eden Camp,  an old prisoner of war camp which had been turned into a WW II museum. Rather run down and looking dated.

Ayr River Walk

The weather brightened this afternoon. Jean and I decided to have a look at the Ayr River Walk by Auchincruive. We used to walk Gryffe here over 10 years ago. I think this is the first time we have been back.  My memory played tricks with me. These rocks were further up river than I thought.

Can you spot Jean walking back along the path looking for me?
