10 Days in Darlington, Leeds, Bradford and Saltaire!
The break started in Darlington. For sometime I have been interested in the state of independent shops on our high streets. Darlington has a number on North Road.
I spend a while taking to Steve outside his pet shop. He found it tough keeping his business afloat but believed that it was worth the effort. It helped him have a purpose in life and kept him away from destructive aspects of his previous way of living.
Next to Leeds and its old shopping arcades:
Finally to Saltaire. A World Heritage Site which is the home of the David Hockney galleries. One building on the site. The rest is available for business usage.
The trip to Bradford was for the National Media Museum for the Alex Soth exhibition. Spread over 2 of its galleries.

Helen, Ethan and Finlay Visit
Helen had the bank holiday off work but Andrew did not so she had a weekend visit with the boys. We joined Andrew in Costa for his lunch break.
Great time with us all being together!

Durham Cathedral
We booked to go to Durham Cathedral for a photo session. Starting very early (5am). It was closed to the general public. Although I'm not certain how popular a visit at that time would be to "normal" tourists!
There were a number of photographers attending. Much more than I had imagined. Here are a few images from our visit.
After breakfast at 8:30 we took a walk round the base of the Castle and Cathedral on the banks of the River Wear.
Finally a walk through the centre of Durham City
