The forecast gave us a 3 hour window of easier weather to repeat our Loch Doon walk. We just managed it before a heavy shower came over on our way home.
A dowdier day than previous but very humid. There was thunder and lighting in the area but we didn't hear it. Further west, Ayr experienced a down pour.

Walking Group's Social Outing to Glasgow
We walked an abridged version of the Glasgow Mural (Murials) Trail. With an occasional pit stop at a few of the cities historic pubs. Finally to the Qua Restaurant in Merchant City for an Italian meal.
The murals are often situated in out of the way places. Down alleyways away from shopping thoroughfares. It took concentrated map reading to hunt them all down.
As a social occasion is was one of the best. Good conversation with hilarious moments. The value of good friends is immeasurable.

Walking Group: Dunure to Ayr
Luck with the weather again.
I've driven up and down between Dunure and Ayr many times but walking the Coastal Path produced a unique experience which highlighted the beauty of the rolling terrane. From the road the attention is drawn to Arran, Ailsa and distance Ayrshire coasts. The immediate land is ignored.
The route is not for those wanting a leisurely mornings stroll. The route is labelled Coastal Path but sections are a scramble over heavy shingle and rocks which may be impassable at higher tides. Progress is slow and awkward. There are steep ascents from the beach to farming land above, followed by easier walking along farm tracks and old railway lines. Then winding descents back to the beach.
The stresses were too great for my left ankle and I hobbled the last mile.
My photos were a disappointment. I thought I had produced better work. But I've an incentive to return when the memory of that last mile has faded.
Not far from the finish The Secret Garden provided BIG scones to revive us.
Thanks to Ileen, Bernie and Fiona for doing an exploratory walk.
