Boys Visit.

Ethan had his cricket club awards tonight. He did not leave empty handed.

As usual we had Finlay this afternoon.

Stockholm 2017

We have not been out of the UK for 4 years. But this weekend we had a wonderful few days in Stockholm.  4 years ago we did come here but could not take a good look at the city. The cruise ship schedule would not allow.

For the weekend we were based in the tourist area of the old town. Looking across to the Grand Hotel.

The Gamla Stan is an island just off the modern city and was part of the original Stockholm with some of its earliest buildings. It reminded me of the medievel parts of Durham and York.

This is the narrowest street in the city.

The water is all around.

We spent a relaxing few hours wandering the streets.

A number of squares opened up for cafes and restaurants.

Jean got us to the oldest houses in the area:

We stopped to talk to a Swedish family admiring the view across the sound. Very friendly. The son was a photographer and worked in IT so we had had a great conversation. His mother talked to Jean. She spoke no English and Jean's Swedish is zero but they had a good time. Waving arms, smiling and pointing to maps in our guide book.

Near our hotel we found a wee shop which sold cinnamon buns with a nice coffee. These 4 seats outside were all there were. Once we ended up across the square on a ledge.

Finlay's Presents and Cake

Finlay's 4th birthday celebrations  today with presents and a cake.

All you need for an introduction was 4 balloons and everyone got involved.

Followed by present openning.

Finlay's Birthday- 4 Today.

Poor Finlay has his birthday on the day all the schools go back after summer. Ethan had his first day at Belmont and Finlay was at nursery as usual.

He was dropped off by Andrew and we took him into nursery.

Short Visit To Manchester

Jean and I had a short trip to Manchester for the official opening of the new Leica Manchester Store. Followed by a day of looking round the shops.

Not the best day for photography but managed 3 images.

Running With Helen.

Accompanied Helen on a 3K run today.  We are in training for the Ayr 10K at the end of the month.

It was followed by a pleasant lunch with Jean and Finlay.
