Kites On Ayr Beach
At last some more sun today. Just on cue a chance to take photos on the beach. Dozens of kite boarders surfing in the shallows. Some sort of competition.
I've not had such a good time taking photos in a while. Completely engrossed. My Fuji X100 never left my hand. The Nikon stayed in the bag. Pre-focused with a big depth of field. The 35mm equivalent lens meaning I was up close, right amongst the kites.
I don't have the lenses to reach the competitors on the water.
Had a good chat with Scott, Wendy and the boys who happened to parked near my car.

Maureen's Farewell from Supply Chain
Effectively Maureen's last week in Erskine before moving to work for Services in the UK Sub.
Many war stories from people in the room and on the phone. Excellent food cooked and supplied by Catherine and Moira.
Charlie "The Bard" Docherty provided the rhyming insight.

Adriatic Cruise: Venice, Italy
Jean was up like a shot at 6am for the docking in Venice. The ship passed St Mark's Square and over looked the main sites of the city.
We had been to the city before so decided to view the glass and lace making areas of Murano and Burano. None of the majestic building of the main city but worker housing brightly coloured.
Jean returned to St Mark's later to see what the atmosphere was like when the majority of the tourists had evacuated the city.

Adriatic Cruise: A Day at Sea
Today was a day of eating. Could not stop. Breakfast, 11 o'clock, lunch, 3 o'clock, dinner and snack before bed!! We only missed out on the BBQ at pool side.
As everyone was on the ship all facilities were jammed. Sun loungers were at a premium. As we were initially in the shade our search was easier.

Adriatic Cruise: Dubrovnik, Crotia
We decided to take the shuttle bus into the old town and do out own thing today.
I was surprised at the architecture and landscape of the area. It looked more Italian than Bari! No beaches and steep cliffs around the town.
We walked up to the cable car station and took a ride to the top of the hill above the old town. The cooler temperature was very welcome. On the way up the many steps to the cable car Jean was in a bad way. Looking very red!!!
Back down for an ice cream. Earlier we had stopped at a cafe which the tour guides used, a good recommendation. Milk shake, cake and cappuccino in a cool alleyway recharged our batteries.

Adriatic Cruise: Ravenna, Italy
Our first excursion to view the famous mosaics of Revenna.
Had a guided tour of several churches in the town with walls covered in the finest mosaics. Many covered in gold leave.
Also passed by Dantes mausoleum.
We had plans to say in the town and have a walk round other sites. Again the heat put a stop to further exertions.
