Pages Of The Sea: Ayr Beach

We went to the beach to see the Pages of the Sea project. A portrait of Walter Tull was raked in the sand. He survived the Battle of the Solm but was killed in the last major German offensive of the war in 1918.

A BBC drone captured the final image. On the beach it was difficult to make out the face properly. Check out the BBC web site for the stunning arial view.

As the Remembrance ceremony was later many old service men, women and relations walked the beach.

Proud young man

Art students helped with the large art work in the sand.

Difficult to see but the chin is bottom left. Centre frame is tash with nose above.

Members of the public could produce their own contribution with a figure stencil.
